Friends of Jade

I wonder if it is possible to find a polar or canadian jade bangle these days (provided that we all know it's only 5-10% of mined jade is of gem grade)? I found a seller who said her bangle was of AAA grade-which I found a little strange since I never saw aaa grade quality jade mentioned either here or on jademine.com.

Anyway, the bangle was said to be 'emerald green', excellent clarity and translucence. without any black inclusions nor chrome specks. and to me it did not look 'heavy' at all, would say under 40grams. the seller was asking for $1800 for that bangle. is it a heft price? I contacted to one of the jade mines in Canada and got somebody confirm me that a bangle of that the above quality would be priced (retail price) around 16,000-20,000USD-yes this is the answer from one of representatives of the Jade Mine company. this representative also said a bangle of grade A with some black inclusions or chrome flecks was typically priced for 1K.

so does it mean they (the jade business) give me the wrong evaluation or that I was lucky enough to see an AAA polar jade bracelet priced only $1800?? I know it's hard to make a judgement without seeing photos, so I provide the link for you all to look at. any comment is welcome

I am a big fan of jade as well but on a MUCH cheaper budget than you. I went with marble instead shown here

I have heard and used the expression AAA grade nephrite when referring to the very finest quality available today. It 's color is pure and it has no impurities. The structure is solid and at first glance you are aware you are seeing a fine piece of Jade. Secondly, with regard to price , Nephrite Jade has seen a fantastic explosion in price. This is a result of a growing popularity in general and speciifically China's Jade Revival as they have began to acknowledge that Nephrite is the "Stone Of Heaven" and the Jade of China's long Jade history. The result being China is now the single greatest factor driving Jade prices worldwide and people will pay crazy prices for high quality Jade. I hope that helps. Cheers, Mike

If the weight is not right, it could be something else, you can use a 1ox magnifier to check the bingle, if there is any bubble inside, it's not a jade.

Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful, that's what matters to me.

1800 seems fair due to today's jade market price. I have seen the best quality of polar jade at a company called polarjade in Vancouver coquitlam area.
